Coalville's first escape room will open in the town centre by the end of the year.

Escape Coalville is the brainchild of Adam Goodger and Jason Thickpenny who are bringing a wealth of first-hand experience to their latest venture.

Not only have the business partners played more than 250 escape games between them, but they have already launched Escape Grantham in neighbouring Lincolnshire and run Escape From Home, a print and play mobile escape game company.

Adam told Coalville Nub News: "We are very excited about bringing the first escape room to Coalville.

"We are taking over the floor above Insomnia Coffee in the Belvoir Shopping Centre and, although we are still in the early building stages, we hope to have our first game open by the end of the year.

"Escape Coalville will see a unique first game that will tie into the history of the area.

"We can't reveal any details yet, it's still in development and under wraps, but we can say that it will be the first of its kind outside London.

"Once the first experience is up and running we will be adding more games to the venue in due course, offering a choice of three or four different escape room themes."

Until Escape Coalville opens, Adam and Jason are taking treasure chest escape game Blackbeard's Last Battle to players' homes, work, community centres, youth clubs and schools.
