The first floor of the Whitwick Constitutional Club is to be converted into office space.

A change of use application was made in November for the live-in steward's accommodation to be occupied by professional services at 8 ,Silver Street.

The proposal sees the professional services office operate on part of the first floor of the building.

But there will be no external alterations as part of the scheme. And it is understood that the ground floor, cellar and part of the first floor are used in connection with the Constitutional Club and these would remain as they are.

Whitwick Parish Council had no objections to the plans, but asked what environmental mitigation measures are being

taken by the applicant to help improve or off set their environmental impact within Whitwick. The parish council also asked for a donation to help reduce the current carbon dioxide concerns within the area. The application was permitted with a council officer's report concluding: "The principle of the development is acceptable. The proposals are considered to not have any significant detrimental design, residential amenity, or highway impacts. "There are no other relevant material planning considerations that indicate planning permission should not be granted."
