Coalville is to get a 'deep clean' ahead of Covid restrictions being lifted this month.
North West Leicestershire District Council says the clean-up will start from 9pm on Monday (July 12) and is being paid for by the Government's 'Welcome Back' funding
Nottingham-based company Brooklands Group will be used for the cleaning operation which includes Ashby and is expected to take four weeks to cover both towns.
An accompanying map shows the four roads immediately around the Clock Tower will be cleaned.
A social media post from the District Council was posted yesterday (Saturday) and says: "We're getting ready for restrictions being lifted by deep cleaning Coalville and Ashby-de-la-Zouch town centres.
"From Monday 12 July (after 9pm) streets in Coalville town centre will be deep cleaned to create a cleaner, more welcoming environment for visitors.
"Once the Coalville clean is complete, the team will move on to Ashby-de-la-Zouch. We expect all the work to be complete in about four weeks.
"Brooklands Group will use their specialist equipment which is more thorough than our own street sweepers.
"We've funded this using Government 'Welcome Back' funding. We appreciate your patience while this cleaning takes place."
