A number of streets in Coalville, Thringstone and Whitwick have been affected by industrial action by North West Leicestershire District Council recycling crews this week.

The council says the GMB trade union has confirmed that a small number of workers have voted to take part in action over shift patterns.

North West Leicestershire District Council added it has been working with its crews and union representatives for a number of months to reduce concerns about potential differences in working arrangements.

A social media post by the council added: "It is unfortunate that a small number of staff have voted to take action by banning overtime and adopting slowing working patterns while working to rule, we want to reassure residents that we will do as much as we can to keep any disruption to a minimum.

"We'll update HERE with any streets affected.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused, we will continue to discuss arrangements with all of our crews and unions."
