Coalville's Long Lane Surgery is setting up a community allotment project to encourage local gardeners - and would-be ones as well.

The plan is to grow food and get the message across about having a healthy diet.

A post on the Long Lane Facebook page says: "We are soon going to be starting a local community allotment project for members of the local community to come together to learn how to grow some tasty fruit and vegetables on our new allotment.

"You don't need any previous gardening experience to join, just an interest in growing food.

"You can also be referred by your GP to become part of this project if you are looking for an alternative to traditional exercise or want to learn more about eating a healthy diet."
