A team of four Coalville rowers planning a 3,000 mile trip across the Atlantic Ocean are searching for backers.

The group - called Anchor Management - will be taking part in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge.

But the Stealth Fitness-based team have another aim in mind - as they also plan to raise money for the Macmillan cancer charity.

The team have been in training since last year for the gruelling event - which will take place in December, 2025.

Now Craig Smith, who runs Stealth at the Stephenson Industrial Park in Coalville, says it is time to address the fundraising part of the challenge.

He said: "As you know, myself and three other lunatics are rowing 3,000 miles, unsupported, across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

"We are slap bang in the toughest part of the process 'raising the funds' to actually be able to get on the water.

"Here's where you come in. Do you know any contacts within the corporate world that might allow us to sit down in front of them and pitch for corporate sponsorship?

"There are lots of companies out there, but it's a little bit like getting past the doctors receptionist trying to get a meeting with the decision makers. Any help or contacts you might have we would be eternally grateful."

Craig said he was also open to donations from individual backers.

He added: "You can also help us yourself if you wish by joining our 300 Club.

"For £100 you can get the name of a loved one that is no longer with us on the side of our ocean rowing boat so they make the journey with us.

"More details are HERE."
