Coalville Police raid barbers shop and fine owner £1,000 for breaking Covid rules

Police raided a Coalville barbers shop on Saturday and issued the owner with a £1,000 Covid fine for breaking lockdown rules.
The operation was a joint effort between North West Leicestershire District Council and Leicestershire Police.
Details have been given on a Facebook post on the North West Leicestershire Police page today (Tuesday).
Police say they were tipped off by the public that the illegal activity was taking place.
Barbers shops will not be allowed to open until restrictions have been lifted on April 12 as part of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.
North West Leicestershire Police had previously issued an all-round warning to 'a minority' of hairdressers and barbers who had been breaking the law Police issue lockdown warning to hairdressers.
Today's police post reads: "On Saturday 6th March in a joint operation between North West Leicestershire District Council and the Police, a barbers shop in Coalville was visited following reliable information received from the public.
"The officers found evidence of haircutting that had taken place and have together served a number of fixed penalty notices to the people on site.
"The owner of the business will also be receiving a business restriction fixed penalty notice of £1,000.
"The Council and the Police would like to thank the people who provided the information that led to this successful operation and to ask anybody with any similar information to share it with us and help stop the spread of the virus."
