Coalville Police: New Model Begins With Drug Driving Arrests, Community Resolutions… And A Knuckle Duster

Leicestershire Police's new Coalville-based Target Operating Model has had a productive opening two days.

The scheme, designed to improve police presence in North West Leicestershire, started on Wednesday. Coalville to benefit from improved police presence

North West Leicestershire Police is one of nine geographical areas across the county with its main base at Coalville.

The police say the community in the area will benefit from improved service, more resilience and capability in local areas, officers will have stronger local knowledge and intelligence and improved response times. 

This new model means officers will be working 24/7 from Coalville station resulting in faster response time.

And officers have already reported back from the opening 48 hours with a number of incidents.

First, they told of stop searches in Worthington of two vehicles and arresting a motorist for drug driving.

Another shift resulted in six stop searches of people. with drugs recovered; four vehicles searched with drugs recovered; three Community Resolutions issued; three drugs wipes completed for suspected drug driving and one arrest for drug driving.

But on Thursday, Coalville Police posted a photo of a knuckle duster which was taken from a man following a stop search. He was then interviewed about the offence.
