Coalville Police in warning to youths about entering derelict or empty buildings
Coalville Police have issued a warning to local youths not to enter derelict or empty buildings.
They have emphasised the safety risks as well as the threat of a criminal record for trespassers.
A social media post on the North West Leicestershire Police page says: "We want to bring your attention to an important community issue.
"The local beat team has recently become aware of several derelict or vacant buildings that some youths have been attempting to enter.
"These buildings pose serious safety risks, and entering them could lead to dangerous situations.
"Additionally, gaining access to these properties may result in criminal records.
"We encourage all parents to have an open conversation with their children about the dangers associated with these buildings.
"Let's work together to keep our community safe!"
It adds: "We work with partner agencies such as local councils, housing and wellbeing services to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour, using a problem-solving approach to achieve the best results."
