Rocket Railways has partnered with The Marlene Reid Centre as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce waste.

As a model railway business, Rocket Railways says it is constantly seeking ways to minimise its environmental impact and lower expenses.

Paul Fagan, the manager of The Marlene Reid Centre, then informed Rocket Railways of the Belvoir Road charity's surplus of boxes from the Plenty 2 Cook Food Market, the opportunity was embraced.

Rocket Railways says it is committed to using as many boxes provided by The Marlene Reid Centre when shipping orders.

It adds that the dedication to reducing the carbon footprint is driven by the business's awareness of the pressing issues facing the planet faces.

Given that Rocket Railways specialises in selling second-hand items, and they are also securely packaged in second-hand boxes as well.

The store says that, not only does this practice benefit the environment, but it also contributes to minimising waste at the Marlene Reid Centre - something both organisation see as a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Rocket Railways owner Jason Thickpenny said: "I'm so happy we're being able to support our friends at The Marlene Reid Centre and help our company work towards a more sustainable future at the same time.

"I just want to reassure our customers that if they receive a parcel with a cheesecake on the box, not to worry. It's definitely a loco in there and not a cheesecake!

"There's been extensive discussion in the media regarding the concept of Net Zero and the strategies to achieve it.

"While we understand that making a single change in our business will not bring immediate results, we are hopeful that by minimising our waste to the greatest extent possible, we can make a positive impact on the environment.

"Our hope is that our customers will also follow suit and recycle the boxes we send them, thereby continuing the cycle.

"This endeavour also allows us to support our friends and colleagues at The MRC as they continue to contribute to helping the community we work and live in."
