A group has been set up to challenge local walkers to climb Bardon Hill 52 times in 2022.

It has been up by Coalville man Garyjohn Warren who says he wants others to join him.

And, if you achieve the target - on average once a week - then there is a certificate and badge on offer.

You can join the Bardon52 Challenge on Facebook - and the page includes details of what it entails.

Garyjohn posted: "If you fancy joining me in completing this challenge, join the group and come along.

"Rules are quite simple, sign up via this group, log your climbs and once you've reached 52, you get a certificate & badge as a well done - but more importantly the feeling of accomplishment!

"The challenge is open to all men and women and is being run in conjunction with @The Leg Up Project UK which supports local men with various issues, aiming to reduce social isolation and improve mental & physical health.

"All we ask is for a donation (recommended £25) to the project - that's less than 50p a week.

"Alternatively, if you fancy doing it as a fund raiser, that would be amazing!!

"I'll be aiming to complete my walks on a Monday, leaving from Bardon Sports Ground at 11am.....feel free to join me.

He said: "This Saturday 09:00 there is a walk up to the top of Bardon Hill, leaving from the path off of Dauphine Close. "We will be joined by Kev Bland, and some lads from The Leg Up Project UK who will be on hand to tell you all about what they do, what the Project is all about and also how (if you would like) you can get involved and donate. "It'd be great to get as many of you up to the top with us, get more at the top selfies in the 01/52 album and get a great group picture too. "You may not want to do all 52...that's fine, that's my challenge....but it'd be great to get the community involved!! "So, please join the group, check out the event and let me know if you want to come along."
