Police Closed Measham High Street Off On Saturday Night Following The Incident

A Coalville man has been arrested has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a hit and run incident in Measham on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old has been released on police bail.

Police were called to High Street in Measham at 9.50pm following a report of a non-stop collision.

Two pedestrians, both men, were injured during the incident. They were taken to hospital with non-serious injuries and have since been discharged.

It is believed that an argument had taken place between the two injured and a third man inside a premises on High Street shortly before the collision took place.

The driver of a white flatbed pick-up van left the scene before emergency services arrived. The van was later recovered in Heather.

High Street was closed to allow for an investigation of the scene. It has since been reopened.

Detective Constable Mike Archer said: "We are continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the area of High Street at around 9.50pm and saw the pedestrians before the collision, the vehicle involved or the incident itself.

"If you have information and haven't yet spoken to officers please get in touch.

"Equally, if anyone captured what happened on their mobile phones, dashcam or CCTV we want to hear from you. Any information you have could assist with our investigation."

The incident is not being treated as terror-related.
