Coalville level crossing closure has been delayed with Leicestershire County Council issuing update

The planned closure of Coalville level crossing this week has been put back just over a week.

It was to have been closed to traffic from this Friday (January 6) over the weekend.

But it will now be shut off from Saturday, January 14, over two consecutive weekends.

It will then be closed once more from 5pm on February 25, for a weekend.

Leicestershire County Council says the change is due to delays in the work getting under way.

It is so that Network Rail can replace rails, level crossing surface decks and approaches.

High Street and Hotel Street will be affected.

The suggested diversion route is via Ashby Road, Stephenson Way, Whitwick Road and vice versa.
