Coalville has been hit by Storm Ciara today - as this photo from Scotlands Playing Fields at Forest Road shows.

The picture was tweeted by Coalville Raven 7s football team account and shows a what happened after a tree came down in the high winds.

They made it clear that safety issues were their priority - as this tree had been standing when an early morning inspection was made.

And as it it turned out they made exactly the right call, as the tree coming down could have caused more harm had people been towards the entrance at the time.

The club posted: "Think we made the right call to call Scotland's playing fields off this morning. Imagine that coming down with cars arriving.

"At 7.30am this was upright when we inspected, but our concern was health and safety at this venue today."

As well as this, A lane was closed on the M1 in Leicestershire because of a fallen tree. It has been shut northbound from J21A at the A46 to J22 for Coalville.
