A fourth Leicestershire care home owned by the same firm has been criticised for having not enough staff.

Tillson House in Coalville was given a requires improvement rating following a recent Care Quality Commission inspection.

Staff there told inspectors that: "The care staff does their utmost best but we're under a lot of pressure – we have not got enough time. It's like you are on a time scale."

They said that they didn't always have time to "talk and listen to people".

The home, on Bradgate Drive, Coalville, run by Leicestershire County Care is the fourth owned by the firm in recent weeks where inadequate staffing has been highlighted as an issue.

Inspectors said: "The service did not always have sufficient numbers of staff on duty to meet people's assessed needs.

"The managers used a dependency tool to determine safe staffing levels. However, staff numbers did not always meet the minimum numbers required per shift.

"Staff told us the service was short-staffed which meant staff could not always meet people's needs in a personalised manner."

The report said care workers told inspectors that they often couldn't get people up and ready in time for breakfast.

The CQC said that though they had seen no evidence that people had been harmed as a result of staffing shortages, people were at risk of harm.

Management told inspectors that they are looking to employ more staff and ways to retain current workers.

Relatives and residents praised the staff and inspectors said

Another Leicestershire County Care Ltd home, Huntingdon Court, in Loughborough, was rated Inadequate in January.

Bodily matter encrusted on bedding and "odorous", stained and dirty bedrooms were noted by inspectors that visited another home, The Limes, in Hinckley, that is also owned by the company.

In November, Woodmarket House in Lutterworth, was given a requires improvement rating after inspectors visited. They said no action had been taken to reduce the number of unwitnessed falls at the home.

All four reports stated that there were not enough staff at the homes to keep people safe.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service asked Leicestershire County Care Ltd for a comment but is yet to receive a response.
