Firefighters from Coalville have tackled a garage fire in Copt Oak's Whitwick Road tonight (Sat).

The crew attended the garage roof blaze, along with another fire engine and the tactical response vehicle from Loughborough, after an emergency call was received around 6.30pm.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet, two breathing apparatus and a short extension ladder and removed roof tiles to inspect the area using a thermal imaging camera.

Crews were on-scene for more than three-and-a-half hours.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "There was moderate fire damage to the roof and garage contents of a single storey detached garage 10m by 20m.

"The cause is believed to be accidental."
