Coalville councillor Craig Smith has written to Leicestershire County Council about the amount of road closures in the area.

Cllr Smith says his move was after the announcement of another set of works in Meadow Lane.

Starting today (Friday), a closure will affect the area around the entrance and exit to Castle Rock School and last until 5am on Monday.

This is so that Severn Trent Water can install a new water main from Abbey Road to Stephenson way.

The proposed diversion route is between Leicester Road, City of Dan, Hall Lane, Whitwick and vice versa.

But Cllr Smith posted on social media earlier this week and said: "This morning I wrote to the lead member for Highways and Transport to express my concerns about the sheer number of Road closures and works within the greater Coalville area.

"It seems to be happening all at once.

"I've asked the planners to consider the impact of potential emergency works when looking at multiple scheduled works happening at the same time."
