North West Leicestershire District Council says residents in the Coalville area have until this Friday (April 1) to organise their street as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

The clean up is planned for the weekend of April 9 and 10 and the council is urging people to 'recruit 10 volunteers from your street'.

NWLDC says that equipment will be provided and the waste will be collected from the end of the road you live in.

To get involved, you have to sign your street up by the end of this week by emailing: [email protected] or phoning 01530 454545.

The initiative is part of Keep Britain Tidy's Big Bag Challenge, which began last Friday.

Keep Britain Tidy says: "We believe that every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference.

"And so, when hundreds of thousands of #LitterHeroes all join forces and take the same action at the same time, the difference we make is huge.

"This year the message is simple. Join our #BigBagChallenge and pledge to pick up as much litter as you can during the campaign."

Keep Britain Tidy offers plenty of advice about litter picking HERE.
