Almost 90 entrants took part in the second Coalville Community Fun Run on Sunday.

With more entrants than last year, 87 enthusiastic runners, joggers and walkers, ranging from age two years and up, tackled either the 5k or 2k routes.

The organisers, Coalville Belvoir Rotary Club, said the atmosphere was electric, filled with fun and community spirit.

The day was made possible by the generous support of Leicestershire Country Parks, the event's dedicated sponsors, and some amazing volunteers who served as marshals.

This year, the chosen charities were Bright Hope in North West Leicestershire, Love4Life and Wishes4Kids.

All had volunteers at the event, showcasing their vital work, as well as helping with marshalling and even taking part in the run.

Thanks to everyone's support, the event was able to donate £420 to each charity.

The run was also sponsored by: Everyone Active, Ibstock Brick, Hermitage Dental Practice, MQP, Neville Cars and PPL PRS.

This year Bridie of Darcy Fitness made sure the runners were suitably warmed up for the event, and her partner Glen provided sports massage at the finish line.

Also showing support were Coalville CAN and Mander Cruikshank Solicitors.

Gemma Steel, a previous GB team member who was the European Cross Country Champion in 2014, helped with presenting the medals at the finish line.

There were also marshals and helpers from Ashby Castle Rotary Club, Ashby Rotary Club and Ashby de la Zouch & Coalville Lions Club.

Next year's run has already been set for June 8, 2025 and the aim to make it even bigger and better.
