Two Christmas trees have been put up in Coalville Town Centre - one in Memorial Square, the other in the newly-refurbished Marlborough Square.

North West Leicestershire District Council's deputy leader, Cllr Michael Wyatt, says the trees this year are better quality and £200 cheaper.

They will be at the heart of Saturday's Christmas in Coalville event.

Cllr Wyatt posted on social media and said: "This year we have a different species of tree.

"We now have Nordmann Trees which are far better than the previous trees which the council used to install

"Over the next few days, the lights will be installed.

"I was determined to make sure the trees the council installed are better quality than in previous years.

"I decided this year we would try the Nordmann Trees which do look much better, and were £200 cheaper."
