Coalville business owners are being invited to kickstart the month of May with connection, conversation, and collaboration at a new-style Business Network Meet-Up.

The event, running from 8:00am to 10:00am at at Palace Bingo, Jackson Street, on Tuesday, May 6.

It is designed for anyone with a stake in the town centre – from shopkeepers and cafe owners, to venue managers and landlords.

Whether you have been part of Coalville for decades or just starting out, this is described as an opportunity to shape the future of the town through shared ideas and local action.

Organised by the community-led team at Coalville CAN, and hosted by Peter Woolley of Palace Bingo, the agenda includes a tour of the venue, informal introductions, space to share both challenges and successes, and time to meet others who care about Coalville's potential.

As well as networking, attendees will hear about the upcoming event Coalville Entertains – a free, family-friendly event happening on May 17 at Marlborough Square, and the Walk to Work Wednesdays and Coalville Town Litter Pick scheme, led by local resident Pete Warren.

Organiser Deana Bamford said: "We know that businesses are a vital part of any town's heartbeat.

"This isn't just about selling or marketing – it's about community, pride, and making things happen together. If you've ever thought: 'I wish someone would do something about that' – come along. Let's be the ones who do."

The event is also part of a wider effort to encourage local pride, with the launch of community-created branding under the banners We Love Coalville and Coalville Our Town.

The visual identity – created by local designer Mick Sadler – uses bold, meaningful colours drawn from the area's industrial and creative heritage, from coal mines to Palitoy.

Those interested in attending can scan the QR code on this invitation or book online at www.coalvillecan.coop. Breakfast is provided, and parking is available behind the venue via Owen Street.

Businesses who want to help host future events or get involved in upcoming community projects are encouraged to make contact via email at [email protected].
