Coalville area community groups are invited to apply to get planting with council's Green Shoot Grant scheme
Community groups in Coalville and North West Leicestershire are being encouraged to apply for funding to help local areas bloom in time for spring.
North West Leicestershire District Council's (NWLDC) Green Shoot Grant scheme has re-opened - and groups can apply for funding to plant a variety of flowering bulbs across the district.
The scheme is match-funded and community groups and parish councils will be able to choose from a combination of narcissi, daffodils, crocus, tulips and snowdrops to create bright and colourful displays.
A mixed bulb option will also be available.
NWLDC will cover half of the cost of the bulbs, with parish councils and community groups paying the remaining 50 per cent.
A minimum order of 2,000 bulbs is required.
Applications need to be made before Friday, September 23 and can be submitted online HERE.
Other schemes are also available including the Zero Carbon Scheme for environmentally focused community projects across the district.
More information can be found HERE.
Councillor Andrew Woodman, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: "We're really pleased to be running the Green Shoots Grant scheme again this year, as it really helps to make the district more vibrant.
"Not only that but it helps to lift people's mood, increase biodiversity, and attract more wildlife.
"I'd encourage groups and parish councils to take advantage of the scheme, which is open now, and help bring a splash of colour to your local communities."
