A hospice that supports babies, children and young people with a serious or terminal illness has received a donation of £1,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Coalville.
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People cares for babies, children, young people and their families across the whole of the East Midlands by providing palliative care and end-of-life care, symptom management, emergency care, respite and short breaks. Its support is available in the hospice, at home and in hospitals.
The donation follows the Amazon Coalville team's participation in the annual "It's a Knockout" fundraising event at Loughborough Playing Fields alongside colleagues from Amazon in Kegworth.
Richard Cowlishaw-Ellison, Site Leader at Amazon in Coalville said: "We are proud to support Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People with this donation, and our team thoroughly enjoyed participating in the 'It's a Knockout' event."
Furkan Aydin, who works at Amazon in Coalville, added: "We had so much fun taking part in this event, and we are glad we can support such a worthy cause."
Kirsty Coxon from Rainbows Children's Hospice said: "On behalf of everyone at the hospice, we would like to thank the team at Amazon in Coalville for this donation and for their participation in our annual event."
Rainbows received the donation as part of Amazon's programme to support communities in and around its operating locations throughout the UK.
Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families across England.
