Amazon Coalville has made a £1,000 donation to a Tamworth charity that supports families of police officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty.

Care of Police Survivors (COPS) works with two organisations, Winston's Wish and RedArc, to provide counselling and specialist bereavement support for families.

Richard Cowlishaw-Ellison, General Manager at Amazon in Coalville, said: "We're pleased to support COPS with this donation as it provides essential support and care for families dealing with the unimaginable loss of a loved one."

Emma Wallbank, Communications and Engagement Manager at COPS, added: "Care of Police Survivors is the only UK charity solely dedicated to supporting the families of police officers who have died on duty.

"The peer support experiences that are funded thanks to kind donations, such as the one from Amazon, enable us to guide our police families through their journey of grief. Thank you so much."

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.

Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.

Earlier this year, Amazon partnered with Comic Relief to become the official home of the Red Nose.

Amazon employees across the UK hosted fundraising activities and together with their customers and partners, raised £2.7 million to support those going through the toughest time of their lives.
