Ibstock & Barlestone surgeries have expressed their shock after a break-in last week saying: "It is beyond us how anyone could do this to an NHS building".

The surgery reported the incident which happened on Friday and resulted in equipment being stolen and damage caused.

It happened in broad daylight at the Barlestone branch surgery and they have since received a report of someone acting suspiciously.

A notice on the surgeries' website reads: "With immediate effect Barlestone Surgery has had to be CLOSED until further notice. We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause."

Posting on their Facebook page, Ibstock & Barlestone surgeries have made it clear they are shocked that anyone would think to break-in and steal from from the NHS during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Their message reads: "Last Friday in the middle of the day our Barlestone branch surgery was broken into and some equipment was stolen.

"There was damage caused externally to the building.

"Since then we have received information that on Saturday somebody was seen acting suspiciously around the back of the surgery.

"We are saddened that this has happened and would like to remind people that anyone stealing from our surgery is stealing from the NHS.

"Replacing stolen items and repairing damage takes money away from patient care.

"It is beyond us how anybody can do this to an NHS building with no thought for the patients who rely on us.

"If you know anything about this please report it to the police to help them with their enquiries. Thank you for your help and support."
