Coalville heroes going 'above and beyond' to support the community during the coronavirus pandemic are to receive public recognition.

North West Leicestershire District Council is asking residents to nominate individuals and groups who will be thanked for their contribution on the local authority's social media channels.

A district council spokesman said: "We want to be able to thank those of you who are going above and beyond to support our communities throughout the coronavirus pandemic and share all of the incredible things you are doing.

"If you know somebody who deserves recognition for something they have done, we want to hear all about it."

Nominees could be a community group making an outstanding contribution, an individual going the extra mile to support someone in need or someone responsible for a heart-warming act of kindness.

"We will be looking to thank our nominated heroes publicly on our social media channels so we want as many nominations as possible.

"Feel free to fill out the form multiple times if you know numerous people who deserve recognition for the work they are doing," added the spokesman.
