A taste of Lebanon has arrived in Coalville - and the women behind it hope locals will take to the town's latest cuisine.

Misto's Kitchen set up in the new Newmarket building in Marlborough Square in October.

And the founders are already finding that their tasty meals are proving popular - with some customers already coming back for more on a regular basis.

Now Misto's Kitchen is now extending their opening hours to stay open until 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays for takeaways.

And the message is that, if you fancy something different, give them a try.

We at Coalville Nub News can vouch for the quality of the food as we paid them a visit recently to sample what is on Misto's lunch menu.

The eatery was set up by Victoria Creamer and Mayssa Misto in Coalville after running a food stall in Staffordshire.

Mayssa is Lebanese and makes family food that she grew up with.

All of which makes Misto's Kitchen unique when it comes to the choice of food in Coalville.

Victoria explained: "Mayssa has always cooked, being Lebanese, you grow up in the kitchen with your mum cooking.

"She couldn't get over the fact that you can buy ready-made tacos over here in the supermarket - over there, everything is freshly made. And freshly made every day.

For example, the hummus is made by soaking dried chickpeas for 24 hours, then we blend them, refrigerate them, then do it all over againadding garlic, olive oil etc, and in all, it's a three day process.

"The falafel is also made fresh, it's vegan, gluten and dairy free, people say that, once they've tried our falafel, it's completely different to what you get in the supermarket.

"We also make our own Tahini, which is a Lebanese sauce.

"But there is a little wait for our food - as it is all prepared fresh. But you can also click and collect if you want."

Victoria hopes the eatery will bring more people to Newmarket which was only opened last year.

She added: "Since we've been here, we've been surprised to see how many people are open to trying our food, and enjoying it.

"Newmarket is a great space to come and enjoy food and browse the unique stalls selling, crafts, bodyshop, wax melts, or shoes.

"At the moment, we're open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9am-4pm.

"But we've just been given permission to open until 9pm, Friday and Saturday nights.

"That came into effect last week - and it's takeaway only.

"We're bringing a new cuisine to the area, something different for people to try.

"Everyone who's tried our food has loved it, we've been lucky and had no bad feedback at all.

"If you have a shawarma, it's effectively a healthy kebab. There's something for everyone here. We have low carb and gluten free options too. If you want a take-away, that's tasty, fresh and feels like a treat but is actually good for you, our shawarma and falafel is great!"

Victoria says that while you can find Lebanese restaurants in cities such as Leicester and Birmingham, there are very few in towns the size of Coalville.

She said: "There are a lot of Lebanese options in larger multi-cultural cites, especially London.

"But we have one guy who used eat Lebanese in Leicester when he was working there, since working from home here in Coalville, he couldn't find it, until now. So he's in here virtually every day.

"It's about getting people here, it's a great space, and it'd be good to get more food outlets in here so that customers have choice.

"But when people go into the food business, they want to make money overnight, and it doesn't happen - that's why we took out a five year lease here.

"At Christmas, we had Lebanese graze boxes for £20 and we'll be altering our menu this year depending on the seasons. There'll be a Valentine's Day graze box launching soon as well."

Victoria says Misto's Kitchen is also giving something back to the community and being part of Coalville.

She added: "We're have launched an initiative with the local foodbank which is one for one.

"Every time you buy a wrap, we donate a meal to the foodbank.

"At the end of the month, we'll see how many meals we sold, and we'll donate the same amount.

"We also have discount deals with local businesses, include the soon to be opened Leisure Centre."
