'Gateway to Coalville' benefits from £25,000 resurfacing work as part of County Council funding plan

By Graham Hill 11th Mar 2022

Resurfacing work along Mantle Lane in Coalville has been completed thanks to £25,000 from the Leicestershire County Council Members Highway Fund.

County councillor Craig Smith used his part of the fund which is designed to focus on local highway issues.

Cllr Smith said: "The MHF is a £25k allocation given to each county councillor to enable them to focus on local highway issues.

"In addition this year, working with the parish councils, I have allocated money to Ravenstone with Snibston and Hugglescote, Donington Le Heath for traffic calming initiatives.

"The Mantle Lane resurfacing is part of a larger initiative to spruce up the entire bridge and locality, so that it lives up to being the gateway to Coalville.

"I have been very fortunate in working with and having the support from the great team at This Is NWLeics and Network Rail.

"Now that the walls have been cleaned, the vegetation removed and the road surface replaced, the next steps are to repair and repaint the railings and repaint the bridge itself."
