Budding local entertainers are being asked to step forward and show what they can do in Coalville Has Talent.

The contest is open to 'anyone and everyone' say organisers.

And there are prizes worth £500 to the winner.

It is being organised by the Century Theate, and they want to hear from you.

The deadline for applications is Friday, May 6.

The organisers say: "We want this to go far and wide as it can be a really exciting opportunity for talent recognition in our local community."

There will be auditions in the first instance, followed by a quarter-final and semi-final leading up to an August 6 final.

Once the application deadline has passed, 40 acts will be invited to the live auditions.

The theatre says: "We're calling for all amazing acts, rising stars, singing sensations and dance divas to join us on stage as the search begins for a winner of our new show Coalville has Talent!

"We'll be getting the ball rolling with a series of auditions and heats from June, where the audience get to vote – building the fun and excitement for an incredible final in August.

"The winner is set to receive prizes worth £500! A £250 Studio Package, courtesy of Tubby Studios, and £250 Cash thanks to Tiles 4 Less.

"There's still time to practice and polish your performance but don't delay as applications close at midnight on May 6."
