Coalville's Stephenson College has confirmed that 'one employee and one pupil' within the SMB Group have tested positive for coronavirus.

In a Facebook post the college says: "Unfortunately the SMB Group (Brooksby Melton College and Stephenson College) has been notified that one employee and one pupil have tested positive for Covid-19.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and we are working closely with Public Health England.

"We are following Government guidance for dealing with this situation and all affected staff and students have been contacted and instructed to isolate as appropriate.

"We remain vigilant with all precautionary measures as the health and wellbeing of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and all campuses remain open."

Yesterday (Fri) Coalville Nub News reported that some students at Stephenson College have been told to self-isolate after a confirmed case of coronavirus.

The SMB Group sent a letter with the advice to an unknown number of students at both campuses earlier this week.

Katherine Coleman, the group's head of health, safety and environment, wrote: "We have followed the national guidance and have identified that you have been in close contact with the affected person.

"In line with the national guidance we recommend that you now stay at home and self-isolate until September 22, returning to college on 23 September and do not come to college, although you can continue your studies from home."
