Coalville Hit And Run: Leicestershire Police Issue An Update

Leicestershire Police say their investigations into Monday's hit and run incident in Coalville - which left a man in hospital with life-changing injuries - are continuing.

They say they have spoken to people on Tuesday to try and piece together what happened and why.

But police are still appealing for anyone who has information about the incident which happened just before 1.45pm on Belvoir Road Police appeal for witnesses after Coalvlle hit and run

The injured man is still in a ';stable' condition say the police who issued an update on Tuesday.

It said: "An investigation is continuing following a non-stop collision in Coalville yesterday afternoon (Monday) which left a man with serious injuries.

"Officers were called to Belvoir Road following reports that a grey Vauxhall Astra had struck a 33-year-old man before leaving the scene.

"The victim has life-changing injuries. He currently remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"Enquiries so far have established the victim was also assaulted prior to the collision.

"Detectives are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

"Officers have been carrying out enquiries at the scene, checking on CCTV and speaking with witnesses.

"The Vauxhall Astra was recovered by police shortly after the incident and enquiries are also being carried out in relation to the vehicle.

"Officers continue to appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident, who has not yet spoken with police, to make contact."

Detective Inspector Tim Lindley added: "Our enquiries into this incident are very much continuing as we establish the full circumstances of what has happened and the events leading up to it.

We have spoken with a number of people today as part of enquiries and my thanks go to those who have helped us by providing information.

"I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information, and who has not yet spoken to us, to make contact. Were you in the area of Belvoir Road yesterday afternoon? Did you witness the collision or events leading up to it? Do you have any CCTV or dashcam footage which may hold vital information?

"Anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is urged to make contact."
