Vandals have damaged plants and overturned plant pots in Coalville Town Centre overnight - causing an angry response from residents.

The vandalism happened in London Road, near the library, and in the Memorial Square.

Plants near the old post office across from the Asda store have also been targeted.

One onlooker said: "I was shocked to see the amount of damage.

"It is utterly disgusting behaviour by whoever committed the senseless acts of criminal damage."

Passer by Terry Taylor posted photos on the Spotted: Coalville site on Saturday morning and gave Coalville Nub News permission to use them.

The photos sparked an angry reaction on Facebook from people who were furious at the actions of those responsible.

Another said: 'How immature do you have to be to think this is "fun'.

One comment reads: 'Shops need to get CCTV together and put all evidence to the police, act as one so there is no back down… about time police took back control."

Another added: 'Name and shame the morons who did this.

"They need to find out who did it and get them to clean every little bit up. Disgusting behaviour."

Coalville Nub News has contacted North West Leicestershire District Council for comment.
