Wild Gin and Mushroom Forage at Thringstone
The Bull's Head, Abbots Oak, Coalville
UNTIL Sunday 10th October

Want to learn about edible fungi? This is a slow paced meander through the beautiful woodlands around Grace Dieu Priory where we will stop and look at things we can forage. Not just mushrooms... though they are the gourmet delight we want to see.
What's the gin bit? Foraging often means a glut of one produce and there are various ways of preserving your finds for later use, but possibly the most fun is gin making. I have a selection of gins for you to try, from bitter medicinal mushrooms to sweet berry infusions. We sample the gins at the start of the course, no one will be drunk but you'll feel a warm glow that will put you right in the mood for walking it off with a social walk and a treasure hunt.
You'll get to choose a staff, the foragers friend, and then we're off into the woods. The ground can be slippy and muddy and it might rain, please wear boots or wellies and bring waterproofs. The plan is to forage enough treats for a fry up and mushroom butty at the end, but bring something to nibble on for your lunch. We will stop somewhere nice for a bite part way through the forage.
What to bring: Boots. Waterproofs. Your own staff, knife and basket if you have them. Lunch.
Don't worry about printing tickets, I'll have your name on my list once you've booked.
Please check out my other events, I'll be around the North West, the Peak and near Leicester over the Autumn season.
