The Virgin Queen, Elizabeth I, was known to be fond of both music and the Arts. She employed around 70 musicians during her reign. Elizabeth could play the lute, sing, and it has even been claimed she composed her own dance music!
Join Nick Gravestock as he leads you through a jaunty Galliard of musicians and music found at the court of Elizabeth.
In this talk, Nick will discuss the variety of their music and the purposes behind it. He will even play some of the music on a selection of instruments of the period. You'll also have chance to ask questions and get hands-on with the instruments.
