The October general meeting of the Whitwick and District u3a is to be held at OUR NEW VENUE - HALL LANE METHODIST CHURCH, HALL LANE, COALVILLE, LE67 5PF on Friday 18th October 2024 at 1.45pm.
The speakers this month are: David Bardell and Mike Byrne
and the talk entitled Crimson Fields is about nurses and surgeons who served on the front line in the great war 1914 - 1918. Compelling stories of a number of these heroines and heroes including Edith Cavell, Nellie Spindler, Noel Chavasse and John McCrae. The talk covers the treatments and procedures developed by these extraordinary individuals, and the pioneering influence on today's medical profession.
The u3a is a national self-help organisation for people who would like to join different interest groups. The website whitwicku3a.org.uk shows the full list of groups within the Whitwick and District u3a.
