OAKS SPRING FAIR MAY 27TH
Nestled in the small village of Oaks in Charnwood between Shepshed and Coalville is the hidden gem of the Oaks Spring Fair. This traditional country fair has been running for over 70 years and attracts visitors from near and far. Last year there were as many as 4000 visitors and it is not difficult to see why.
It truly is an event for all ages with a variety of attractions which this year includes fairground rides, an inflatable maze and other activities for children and families. There is the popular fun dog show, walking with alpacas, and the beautiful church of St James the Greater to explore. There are lots of craft stalls supporting local artisans and a host of food outlets to suit every taste. This is in addition to the classic car display, a range of agricultural machinery and some visiting steam engines. Whilst enjoying your food and drink and taking in the general vibe of the day you will be entertained by a variety of music acts and performers.
The whole event is organised by volunteers from the local community and raises funds for the local church. It represents everything that is good about country fairs. With an entrance ticket of £5 per adult and children under 12 going free, it really is amazing value. Whilst the entrance fee can be paid by card, remember that stalls are likely to be cash only. What better way to spend your Bank Holiday Monday than in the most beautiful corner of the Leicestershire countryside?
The Oaks Spring Fair takes place on Monday May 27th from 10 till 4pm in the field adjacent to St James the Greater Church, Oaks in Charnwood, Oaks Road, Oaks in Charnwood LE12 9YD. There is free car parking (yes FREE parking) in the field opposite.
