Join Chris Hibbert as he shares his experience with gleaning.
Gleaning entails volunteers working with local farmers to collect surplus fruits or vegetables that would otherwise be discarded because of overproduction, changes in supermarket preferences, or strict appearance standards.
Discover more about this initiative and find out how you can get involved!
Come along for free on Wednesday 6th March, 6pm to 8pm. If you intend to come along, please book below to reserve your space and let us know you are coming!
About Chris:
Chris is a Scientist, Engineer and Manager, currently working as Head of Business Improvement for Roger Bullivant Limited.
However, he is attending this event as a passionate member of Lions International. A volunteer service organisation with members in over 200 countries. Lions have five core global causes, Vision, Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Environment and Hunger. In 2019, they created 'The Lions Gleaning Hub' to rescue surplus food from farmers' fields and distribute this to those in need, addressing two of these global causes, Hunger and Environment.
Fast forward, the Hub has empowered over 250 volunteers to glean over 70t of field fresh fruit and veg. Hear more about this and other climate related projects.
