Set in a Durham village devastated by mining closures, landlord TJ keeps his pub The Old Oak running thanks to a handful of loyal regulars. The arrival of Syrian refugees raises tensions as TJ strikes up an unlikely friendship with Yara, a young Syrian photographer. Can they find a way for the two communities to understand each other?
