Two fly-tippers that offered unlicensed collections to businesses and then dumped the waste on a country road have been handed community orders in court.

North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) tracked down Ricky Rushton, 26, and Holly Marlow, 24, of The Moorlands, Coleorton, after investigating two fly-tips dumped on an unclassified lane which runs from The Moorlands, Coleorton to Farm Town, Coleorton in January 2019.

A new rural crime team is being piloted in North West Leicestershire.

Working as a team of three, comprising Sergeant Linsey Booth, PC Emma Holmes, and PCSO Tony Gallagher will work alongside neighbouring forces, as well the National Farmers' Union (NFU) to tackle rural crime including agricultural, equine, wildlife and heritage.
