Whitwick Parish Council has voted to move forward with the idea of having a remembrance tree placed in the Memorial Garden.

Residents can have a loved one's name engraved onto an oak leaf which is then placed on the tree.

The cost, which has yet to be set, will also pay towards the planting of a tree to help improve the area's local environment.

Cllr Michael Wyatt said: "At Bradgate Park, there is a remembrance tree.

"Having something very similar to this in Whitwick would be a nice way for residents to not only help the parish improve our environment, but also remember a loved one who lived or who was born in Whitwick."
