The 80th anniversary of VE Day plays a big part in this weekend's events.
Tonight (Thursday), Whitwick Parish Council is staging a VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebration at City of Dan.
The event features 1940s-style entertainment and promises to be a family-friendly evening.
It gets underway at 7.30pm.

The 1620s House in Donington le Heath has a VE Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration Event on Saturday.
There will be a range of authentic displays, crafts and hands-on activities.

The Charles Booth Centre in Thringstone has a free VE Day Exhibition and Poppy Making session.
Come along between 1pm and 5pm to see the memorabilia and archive material relating to Thringstone during World War Two.
This event is at ground floor level and will also promote the Thringstone Creates project, which is aiming to see the village bedecked with poppies, both in crochet and knitted, around local venues for Remembrance Day.
Yarn and patterns will be available for those who want to knit or crochet.

On Friday night, the Century Theatre in Coalville is screening the Bob Dylan movie, A Complete Unknown.
In 1961, an unknown 19-year-old Dylan arrives in New York City with his guitar and forges relationships with musical icons on his meteoric rise, culminating in a ground-breaking performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

On Sunday, the Century Theatre has Old Time Sailors playing live.
You are invited to board the ''Good Ship Lollipop'' and join the plentiful crew, The Old Time Sailors, for a night of foot-stomping, dancing and singing.
You will be sailing back to the 19th century for an immersive experience of songs you know in a sea shanty fashion you have never seen before.
The Motley Crew and their plethora of traditional and eclectic instruments will take you back to the time of clashing tankards, and drunken debauchery. The band have been hand-picked from Smugglers Coves, and Nooks and Crannies of the Cornish Coastline. Sing and dance along as the band perform centuries-old folk and shanty songs.

On Saturday, Mount St Bernard Abbey is the base for Hike for Hope fundraiser challenge set in the heart of North West Leicestershire.
Meeting in the car park at Mount St Bernard, this is the start of the four mile walk around the countryside, helping to raise funds for Bright Hope.
The charity works to support individuals who have a condition that leads to a reduction in quality of life or who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition.
