This weekend's Coalville events cover a wide range of entertainment and activities - hopefully there is something for everyone.

Don't forget, you can advertise your event for free at Coalville Nub News - and reach thousands of our readers by doing so.

Whether it is a gig, a comedy night, a pub quiz or maybe your monthly society meeting, just fill in the form HERE and we will list it for you in our What's On section.

It's Bonfire Night coming up of course, and there is a major display on Saturday evening in Coalville.

Broomleys Cricket Club will be staging its annual display.

The gates will open at 5pm and the fireworks display will commence at 7.30pm for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Broomleys Cricket Club is off Blackwood in Coalville.

More details are HERE.

On a similar theme, the 1620s House in Donington le Heath is holding a Gunpowder Plot Day.

This entertaining re-telling of the story behind the Gunpowder Plot allows you to discover how the family that lived in the 1620s House were connected to it.

SPOILER! Their uncle, Everard Digby, was hung, drawn and quartered for his part in it!

See the story of the Plot unfold through a series of short scenarios through our house and grounds.

Learn about the properties of gunpowder with the Open Rope Living History Group and examples of 17th century muskets being fired.

BEWARE the bangs are loud. Ear defenders are available for those with aural sensitivities.

You can find more details HERE.

Tonight (Thursday), the Century Theatre in Coalville has a production of, Hancock's Half Hour: The Lost Episodes.

From the producers of the critically acclaimed tours of Round the Horne and The Goon Show comes another radio comedy classic live on stage.

In 1954, Tony Hancock burst onto the airwaves of the BBC Light Programme with a comedy show unlike anything the British public had heard before.

Playing a less successful version of himself and surrounded by a cast of fellow comedy greats including Sid James, Hattie Jacques and Kenneth Williams, Hancock's Half Hour was one of the first programmes in the genre we now know as sitcom.

You can find more details HERE.

Next Wednesday sees Coalville CAN in Memorial Square host an evening with Ruth Schwiening, a Kindertransport survivor.

Come along for an inspiring journey through history. Watch Ruth's captivating talk where she shares her life experiences after migrating to the United Kingdom at the age of only three, and how she ignited her artistic talent that she uses to share her story with others.

Free for any to come along.

For more events in the area, go to our What's On page HERE.

And if you cannot see your event listed, remember, you can list it for FREE at Coalville Nub News.
