The Century Theatre in Coalville has another film night on Friday.

It will be showing Empire of Light.

This is a drama about the power of human connections during turbulent times, set in an English seaside town in the early 1980s.

Stars Olivia Colman, Colin Firth, Toby Jones & newcomer Micheal Ward.

Written and directed by Sam Mendes, beautifully shot in Margate and in particular the art- deco Dreamland Cinema.

You can find out more details HERE.

On Saturday night, The Century has live music in the shape of the smallest orchestra in the world.

Blackheart Orchestra is officially two people playing 13 instruments between them, Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington draw on their backgrounds in rock, folk, electronica and classical music to create a unique sound frequently compared to early Pink Floyd, Portishead and Kate Bush as well as contemporary composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

Described as an "Avant garde musical utopia" they perform in their 'musical space station' of instruments including guitar, bass, percussion, mandola, piano, organ, omnichord and vintage synthesisers.

After over 1,000 concerts and four albums they've played everywhere from Southampton to Sydney including London's Palladium and Royal Albert Hall while piling up achievements from a nomination for the Progressive Music Limelight Award, Best British Duo, No4 Best New British Band, and No10Most Important Rock Event of 2020.

More details are HERE.

There is plenty of live music on in the area, click on the What's On page to see more.

But two retro nights are taking place on Saturday - spanning three decades.
