The council and Friends of Coalville Park are jointly organising the Celebrate 125 Years of Coalville Park - which will take place this Saturday and Sunday in Coalville Park - and families have been invited to come along and enjoy the occasion.

Three events over two days will take place:

  • Saturday 29 June 11am until 2pm – Friends of Coalville Park have invited local sports clubs, societies and other active travel agencies to promote their activities. People can get involved by taking part in the free activities, including tennis, sports games, rounders and learning about the best ways to get out and active in Coalville.
  • Saturday 29 June 6pm until 9.30pm – An evening of live music from Mudslide Band and the Carton Kings Band as well as a wide selection of street food to enjoy.
  • Sunday 30 June 12pm until 5.30pm – live music from Real Monsters Band, The Inspired Band and Leicestershire Co-op brass band. There will be charity stalls, children's rides, family entertainment and much more.

The council says that visitors should be aware there is no on-site parking, so use the town centre car parks and walk to the park from there.

Accessible parking will be made available courtesy of St Wilfred's Church in London Road.

The Century Theatre in Coalville has two shows by the D-Day Darlings on Sunday.

Relive the nostalgic days of wartime Britain as the delightful D-Day Darlings take you on a musical journey back to the heart of 1940s war time Britain as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of `D-Day`.

The D-Day Darlings, semi-finalists in the hit ITV programme `Britain's Got Talent' are Britain's premier wartime act. The group have now become a head lining fixture at endless theatre performances, countless TV appearances and at many Armed Services reunions.

Enjoy the most memorable songs that kept a nation smiling through its darkest days, this D-Day Darlings concert show is complimented by audio visual footage of the war time era.

Audiences delight as the `The D-Day Darlings` pay homage to the most popular artistes of the wartime era, including Dame Vera Lynn, The Andrews Sisters, Gracie Fields and many more.

Hear all the classic wartime songs: "Pack Up Your Troubles", "Keep The Home Fires Burning", "I'll Remember You", "White Cliffs Of Dover", "It's a Long Way To Tipperary", "We`ll Meet Again" and many more.
