What's On in the Coalville and Ibstock area this weekend

This weekend's Coalville events cover a wide range of entertainment and activities - hopefully there is something for everyone.

Saturday sees the Christmas in Coalville event in the town centre.

You can see from the poster that there are celebrations planned all day - finishing up with the switching on of the Christmas lights at 5pm.

Local businesses have been getting involved too with some impressive window displays popping up around the town.

Christmas in Coalville will see the town filled from 10am to 5pm with street performers, bringing Elvish Pressie and the National Elf Service on hand to entertain visitors.

Crowds will also be invited to enjoy all the fun of the fair on Market Hall car park.

Free events for the whole family will include main stage performances kicking off at 2pm in Needham's Walk car park, headlined by local group The Inspired.

On Saturday, there will be:

• Live music

• Street performers

• Market stalls

• Kids activities at Newmarket Coalville

• Festive treats at Newmarket and the Belvoir Shopping Centre

• and... a fun fair

North West Leicestershire District Council has issued a timetable of events below.

Before that, on Friday night, the Century Theatre in Coalville hosts a ZZ Top tribute band.

You can enjoy all the band's incredible hits delivered by one of the UK's Top Tribute Act – ZZ The Eliminators.

Showcasing the amazing hits of ZZ Top throughout the years including, Gimme all Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man and Legs – you're assured of a memorable evening.

Back to the Christmas theme and, on Friday, the Marlene Reid Centre in Belvoir Road, Coalville, is staging a free festive event

You will be able to create your own tree decoration provided by the Crafting Supplies Outlet - come and enjoy some festive nibbles and get in the Christmas spirit.

Spaces are limited so booking is essential. This activity is suitable for all ages.

Christmas in Coalville will be followed by a production of Once Upon A Time at the Century Theatre on Saturday evening.

It promises a celebration of the amazing talent of the fantastic group of Century Academy students.

This variety show will offer a vibrant mix of group performances and auditioned pieces - all based on the notion of childhood and nostalgia.

Relax and enjoy classic songs from over the decades, alongside favourite songs from the much-loved stories of Wicked and Beauty and The Beast.

The 1620s House in Donington le Heath is also getting into the festive spirit with its Stir Up Sunday this weekend.

This is the ideal way welcome the season in and learn how to make a traditional Christmas pudding in the visitor attraction's relaxed and beautiful barn. 

Take home the pudding you've made along with a jar of vegetarian mincemeat to share with all the family.
