Here are three events happening this weekend in Coalville (one's sold out but it's good to see the Century Theatre bringing in the crowds).
Friday, October 8: Kerry Godliman, Century Theatre
Kerry's back on tour after what she thought would be a little 'she' time. No chance. Her bosh-like nature will never let her rest. Well, that and a needy cat, a constantly disappointing camper van, ever-raging feelings of mum guilt and bewilderment at the phasing out of thimbles. All will be explained.
As seen on Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo, Taskmaster, Michael McIntyre's Big Show, Cats Does Countdown, After Life, Save Me and Call The Midwife and heard on The News Quiz, The Now Show and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.
This event is sold out, but you can see details HERE.
Saturday, October 9: Sweet Revenge, Air Drawn Dagger and 3 in a Bed with The Doctor, The Victoria Bikers' Pub.
Covers band Sweet Revenge are one of the best covers bands around, while Air Drawn Dagger are a band on the up, catch them now while they're still playing small venues.
Also, an interview with the Doctor from Doctor and the Medics.
Tickets are HERE
Sunday, October 10: Wild Gin and Mushroom Forage at Thringstone
Want to learn about edible fungi? This is a slow paced meander through the beautiful woodlands around Grace Dieu Priory where you can stop and look at things, and can forage. Not just mushrooms... though they are the gourmet delight you'll want to see.
What's the gin bit? Foraging often means a glut of one produce and there are various ways of preserving your finds for later use, but possibly the most fun is gin making. You can sample the gins at the start of the course, no one will be drunk but you'll feel a warm glow that will put you right in the mood for walking it off with a social walk and a treasure hunt.
You'll get to choose a staff, the foragers friend, and then it's off into the woods. The ground can be slippy and muddy and it might rain, please wear boots or wellies and bring waterproofs. The plan is to forage enough treats for a fry up and mushroom butty at the end, but bring something to nibble on for your lunch.
What to bring: Boots. Waterproofs. Your own staff, knife and basket if you have them. Lunch.
