What's On In Coalville this weekend

From a band travelling 600 miles to play in Coalville, to a production of a musical set in the 1970s, to a town centre food-fest, there is plenty going on this weekend.

Coalville Amateur Operatic Society's production of Boogie Nights - The Musical continues until Saturday.

The play has been showing at the Iveshead School in Shepshed and it tells the hilarious and heart-warming story of Roddy, a Jack-the-lad, whose life of 'birds, booze and boogie' is about to be turned upside down.

Packed with all the greatest Disco classics Boogie Nights-The Musical will have the audience up on its feet doing The Bump and The Hustle, and funking along to the grooviest chart topping hits!

Foodie Friday makes a return to Newmarket in Coalville tomorrow (Friday, clearly!).

There will be a selection of stalls offering fine foods and treats including, Indian snacks and prepared meals, fine cheese and nibbles, pies from PieSki, American confectionary, Viennese whirls, Locally made liquors, gins and vodkas.

Coalville's Century Theatre has another Open Mic Night tomorrow (Friday).

Come along to the Bar and Mezzanine area for a new Open Mic session. All are welcome – amateur to professional – for this fun and creative meet-up of comedy, live music, poetry and more. Entry is free.

Hugglescote Social Club has a Northern Soul Night tomorrow (Friday) which starts at 8pm.

It is the first of six events this year and will be every other month on the last Friday with our resident DJs Jed Purkis, Ken Sylvester and Rob Gray.

Playing across the board Northern Soul & Tamla Motown & RnB with a touch of Modern.

The West End Club in Coalville has a Rock 'n Roll Club on Saturday night featuring The Moonshiners.

The Victoria Bikers pub plays host to the 05.40s tomorrow night (Friday).

They are a Swiss-based rock band and are travelling over 600 miles to play the gig as part of a UK tour.

The band will be bringing their international sound to the Victoria Bikers' Pub.

They specialise in Indie rock music, are based in French-speaking Switzerland and are touring Britain for the first time around grassroots venues across England.
