Parents and carers in the Coalville area can access free stay-and-play sessions for children aged 0-5 at local Family Hubs.

Sessions vary, but typically include free-play, arts and crafts, snacks, messy play and stories.

Run by dedicated volunteers supported by Leicestershire County Council's Family Help Service, they provide a safe, fun and engaging space for little ones to explore, learn and develop essential life skills.

Locally, the venures can be found at Greenhill in Coalville, as well at Bagworth.

Jane Moore, director of children and families at Leicestershire County Council, said: "Stay and play sessions are a fantastic way for children to learn and grow while providing parents with a welcoming and supportive community.

"These sessions offer creative activities that boost confidence, improve social skills, and support early years development. They also offer a great opportunity for parents to connect with others, share experiences and access valuable support."

Studies show that early play enhances cognitive skills, language development and motor skills, helping children build social awareness, problem-solving abilities and emotional resilience.

Stay and play allow children to learn at their own pace in a relaxed and reassuring atmosphere.
