Charities and community projects in Coalville have the chance to win up to £1,000 as part of a campaign launched this week.

VARTA Consumer Batteries UK, one of Europe's leading battery brands, is behind the 'VARTA Loves Powering Communities' campaign, aimed at supporting local groups.

The campaign is designed to empower non-profit and local community groups in the Coalville area, such as food banks, community gardens and litter clean-up groups.

VARTA will be giving away up to £1,000, along with a product bundle, to help charities and groups continue their vital work in the community, with £500 available for the runner-up.

To enter, charities and groups need to create a short video highlighting what their organisation does, who is involved and how the funds would support their efforts.

The video entry needs to be posted on Instagram, tagging @varta.aguk and using the hashtag #VARTALovesPoweringCommunities, before the deadline on September 1.

Hanifa Choudhury, managing director at VARTA Consumer Batteries UK, said: "We're delighted to announce the launch of our VARTA Loves Powering Communities initiative.

"Here at VARTA, sustainability is at the core of everything we do and we are committed to developing innovative battery solutions, while working hard to reduce our long-term impact on the planet.

"This campaign reflects our dedication to giving back to the local communities that support us and we aim to empower those who are making a positive impact in their neighbourhoods, fostering a more sustainable and connected future for all."
