Two men 'believed to have been stabbed' in Coalville: Police appeal for information after incident close to town supermarket

Two men were believed to have been stabbed in broad daylight close to a Coalville supermarket yesterday evening (Monday).

Detectives are appealing for information and dashcam footage after the men were found seriously injured in Long Lane, next to the Spar store.

Leicestershire Police say that officers were called to the area just after 8.30pm, along with clinicians from the East Midlands Ambulance Service

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said today (Tuesday): "Both men, who are in their 20s, are believed to have been stabbed and were taken to hospital for treatment.

"One man has since been discharged from hospital, the other remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition."

So far, no-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Leicestershire Police added: "Enquires are being carried out to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and officers are asking for anyone who was in the area last night to come forward."

Detective Inspector Esther Scott added: "This incident happened in the street, while it was light.

"There are likely to have been a number of people walking and driving in the area.

"If you were in the area of Long Lane and Broom Leys Road - between 8-9pm, and have any information regarding the incident, please come forward.

"Similarly, anyone driving in the area, please check your dashcam footage and contact police if you have anything that could assist with our enquires."

A scene preservation currently remains in place in Long Lane.
